President’s Chatroom Series — The Ways of Investment

Professor Simon Ho, President of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), along with Mr Andrew Fung Hau-chung, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Henderson Land Development Company Limited, held the “President’s Chatroom Series – The Ways of Investment” on 5 March 2025 to discuss on the economic and market outlook, as well as their personal insights on wealth and self-investment. The hybrid chat attracted over 400 alumni, students, staff and friends of HSUHK who attended either on-site or online.

During the event, President Ho and Mr Fung shared with participants from a macro perspective how individuals should plan and manage their investments in the context of globalisation and social-political changes, and encouraged young people to continuously enhance their self-worth. Mr Fung shared, “The principle of personal financial management is to consider one’s value system, own situation and needs, and it requires discipline and long-term goals. One should not incur debts without recurrent earning power, and financial independence could create more inspirations for life.” President Ho also echoed, “Individuals should set clear goals and manage their investment carefully, ensuring they align with their life aspirations and career planning.”

Students were proactive in raising questions, especially regarding how recent graduates can enrich themselves and become more competitive in the job market. President Ho and Mr Fung emphasised that young people should broaden their horizons and cross-disciplinary knowledge to tackle fast social-economic-technological changes.
