As Mid-Autumn Festival draws near, the Advancement and Alumni Affairs Office (AAAO) warmly invites alumni, family members and friends to join the Alumni Mid-Autumn Lantern Craft Workshop. Discover the charm of Hong Kong’s traditional lantern-making heritage and create your own unique star fruit lantern while experiencing the richness of this treasured intangible cultural heritage.
The workshop will take place at The Create, HSUHK’s town centre located in the M+ Tower at the West Kowloon Cultural District. Against the backdrop of Victoria Harbour and a vibrant arts setting, participants will learn traditional lantern-making techniques from renowned local craftsman Master Au Yeung Ping-chi. Using bamboo strips and colourful cellophane paper, you will craft a classic star fruit lantern while gaining an appreciation of the craftsmanship and cultural significance behind this time-honoured craft.
This Mid-Autumn Festival, gather with your family and friends at The Create! Enjoy a relaxing gathering with light refreshments, harbour views and creative fun, and take home your own handcrafted lantern filled with festive blessings!
