Appreciation and Naming Ceremony of Yip Kit Chuen and Yuen Yuk Hing Hall

The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) is honored to name the Yip Kit Chuen and Yuen Yuk Hing Hall in recognition of Dr Yip Kit-chuen’s generous donation to support the University’s development. The appreciation and naming ceremony was held on 18 October 2024.

Officiating guests were Dr Yip Kit-chuen, his eldest son Dr Daniel Yip, and his third son Mr Thomas Yip; Dr Mose Cheng, Council Chairman; Dr Patrick Poon, Governor and Chairman of the Fundraising and Donation Committee; President Simon Ho; and we were privileged to have Dr Yip’s family, friends, and distinguished guests attending the ceremony.

Dr Moses Cheng delivered a welcoming speech, stating that Dr Yip has actively supported the development of HSUHK over the years, contributing significantly to the cultivation of talent in Hong Kong and the prosperity and stability of society. He remarked, “Dr Yip’s dedication to nurturing talent in Hong Kong and Mainland China is highly respected and admired. His continued support for HSUHK signifies the recognition and affirmation of our University, and it inspires all of us. In the future, the University will continue to strive forward in gratitude for Dr Yip and the support of all sectors of society.”

In his speech, Dr Yip Kit-chuen reflected on his long-standing relationship with HSUHK stating that he has been walking alongside the University for nearly a decade. Believing in the principle of “taking from society, giving back to society,” Dr Yip is committed to contributing to talent development and promoting social and national progress. Dr Yip ended his speech by stating that “I support HSUHK’s unique teaching model of ‘Liberal + Education’ and look forward to collaborating with the university to contribute to the education sector.”

President Simon Ho expressed gratitude to Dr Yip for his support and guidance over the years, as well as appreciation for his family, including his eldest son, Dr Daniel Yip. This donation will significantly aid in promoting the University’s campus development plans, benefiting all staff and students. “As a non-profit private university, HSUHK relies on the support of enthusiastic individuals from various sectors for its continued development. In appreciation of Dr Yip’s trust, the University will continue to enhance the quality of teaching and research, optimising and innovating curriculum content and teaching methods, while actively exploring students’ potential and supporting their holistic learning, injecting new momentum into society.”

Appreciation and Naming Ceremony of Yip Kit Chuen and Yuen Yuk Hing Hall has garnered the attendance of numerous friends from the industry and business community.
After the ceremony, the University held a special birthday celebration for Dr Yip Kit-chuen.
