With a generous donation of HK$18 million from the S H Ho Foundation as an endowment fund, the Dr S H Ho Scholarship in Banking and Finance has been established for new students. It covers the awardee’s full tuition and residential fees in the four-year study, which amounts to around $400,000, the highest amount of a single scholarship at HSMC. At the convocation of 2017/18 academic year, Dr Ho Tzu Leung, Governor of the Foundation, presented the scholarship to Wong Pak Yan, Year 1 student of Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) programme.
In his speech, Dr Ho commended HSMC on its efforts in providing quality higher education and achieving remarkable results within several years after restructuring, and looked forward to its obtaining a university status. He encouraged the students to enjoy their studies and contribute to the society after graduation. Dr Ho also recalled how his father the late Dr S H Ho, a renowned banker and philanthropist, spared no efforts to promote education and contributed to the development of the local commercial banking sector.
