HSUHK STUDENTS RECEIVED FIRST AIA SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) became one of the ten partner universities in Hong Kong of “AIA Scholarships” in October 2020. A virtual award ceremony was held yesterday (7 April 2021) whilst Mr Edmund Tse, AIA Group Board Chairman and Director of the AIA Foundation, and Mr Lee Yuan Siong, AIA Group Chief Executive and President, offered their congratulations to the first 100 AIA Scholars from the partner universities.
Presiding over the virtual ceremony, Mr Lee Yuan Siong congratulated the students and said, “The aim of the AIA Scholarships programme is to help generations of young Hong Kong students realise their true potential. It is a long-term commitment by AIA to enable exceptional, community-minded students to gain access to the best local education and allow them to give back to this great city, building an even better Hong Kong for the future.”
In 2020/21 academic year, HSUHK was pleased to have five students receiving the AIA Scholarships. On behalf of his HSUHK’s fellow scholars, Mr Hassan Ahmed, first year student of Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Economics, shared his university life and expressed his gratitude to AIA Group and HSUHK, “Receiving the AIA Scholarships is such a great encouragement to me; and I sincerely thank both AIA and HSUHK for their significant support.”
The “AIA Scholarships” programme is a landmark programme of AIA Group launched in 2020, when AIA pledged US$100 million to support 100 undergraduates every year to attend universities in Hong Kong over the next several decades. The scholars will each receive an award of HK$50,000 for every year of their undergraduate studies.
