NAMING CEREMONY OF CMA KNOWLEDGE BASE
A naming ceremony on 4 December 2017 was officiated by The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA) representatives Dr Eddy Li Sau Hung, CMA President and Ms Shirley Chan Suk Ling, First Vice President of CMA; together with Professor Simon S M Ho, Hang Seng Management College (HSMC) President; and Dr Patrick Poon Sun Cheong, HSMC Governor, Chairman of HSMC – Foundation Management Committee and Fundraising and Donation Committee.
In his welcome remarks, President Ho expressed his heartiest gratitude towards CMA for its timely donation in support of HSMC’s long-term development. In appreciation of CMA’s genuine gift and staunch support for the vibrant and green College, four Library Discussion Rooms, A005 to A008, were named in honour of CMA. President Ho also updated guests on the recent developments of HSMC and remarkable achievements of its students.
In his address, Dr Li said CMA had long been striving to fulfil its corporate social responsibility by furnishing substantial support for local higher-education institutions. He added that CMA also offered a broad variety of scholarships and internships with a view to enhancing employment opportunities for young people, thereby fostering the prosperity of Hong Kong in the long run.
Tailored to knowledge accumulation purposes, the Discussion Rooms are to be designated as a “knowledge base” for students. Officially named “CMA Knowledge Base”, the cluster of rooms is fully equipped with computer facilities and prominently located on the ground floor of HSMC Library at S H Ho Academic Building to serve as an ideal venue for small group learning and discussion.
