VISIT FROM THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB
Dr Gabriel Leung, Executive Director, Charities and Community; and Ms Rainbow Wong, Deputy Executive Manager, Charities (Engagement) at The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) visited The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) on 15 November 2023 (Wednesday) and were welcomed and received by Dr the Hon Moses Cheng, Council Chairman; Dr Patrick Poon, Governor and Chairman of Fundraising and Donation Committee; President Simon Ho; Professor Y V Hui, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research); Dr Tom Fong, Vice-President (Organisational Development); Professor Jeanne Fu, Acting Vice-President (Learning and Student Experience); and Ms Elisa Chan, Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs.
The representatives from HSUHK provided the guests with an overview of the University’s latest developments and emphasised the development of creative humanities in its new strategic goals. Dr Leung also shared insights into the history, operations, charity projects and priority areas of support of HKJC Charities Trust. The exchange of views during the meeting was fruitful and served to deepen mutual understanding between both parties.
Following the meeting, the guests were treated to a campus visit. They visited the Patrick S C Poon Amity College of HSUHK Jockey Club Residential Colleges, Yuen Campus, allowing them to share the hall life with our student residents. They also visited the Department of Art and Design to explore students’ learning and works in various forms. The tour concluded with the Creative Humanities Hub under construction where the guests were introduced to the unique features of this upcoming facility.
The University was thankful for continued support from HKJC and anticipated future collaborations and partnerships with HKJC in areas of common interest that create social good and bring meaningful impact on society.
