Donor-Student Sharing Sessions
The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong organised a “Donor-student Sharing Session Series” to connect its supporters with their beneficiaries when in-person meetings were not feasible due to social distancing. During the sharing sessions, donors had the opportunity to receive heartfelt thanks from students who had received scholarships/bursaries contributed by them. For the scholarship recipients, they got a chance to share with the donors how their lives had changed after receiving their support. There were seven major scholarship donors including Alliance Capital Group Limited, Dr Cheung Wah Keung, Fung Yiu King Charitable Foundation, Ho & Fung Foundation, Shun Lung Yan Chak Foundation, The Tung Foundation, and Wang On Properties Limited, and nearly 40 students participated in the series. This was the first time for both donors and their beneficiaries to meet each other.
All the scholarship recipients were touched and encouraged by the generosity of the donors.
“I am glad that I have got the chance to talk to Professor Patrick Fung of Fung Yiu King Charitable Foundation. Prof. Fung is very enthusiastic about supporting the local education sector. He genuinely cares about us and has shared with us his thoughts on our future plans. I would recommend more meetings be arranged to develop a better relationship between the donors and the scholarship recipients.” Chan Chun Shing, a current BBA-SCM Year 4 student said.
Chan Mei Lan, BBA-SCM Year 1 student also said, “At the zoom meeting, I expressed my immense gratitude to Mr Ho, Mrs Ho and Miss Ho of the Ho & Fung Charitable Foundation. We shared our experiences in a relaxed manner. They told us the reason why they founded the charitable foundation. Mrs Ho and Miss Ho shared their own experiences which really encouraged us. The bursary has helped me a lot during the pandemic. I am really grateful for their bursary”.
The donors also welcomed this opportunity to meet with their beneficiaries. “We really enjoyed meeting you all and hearing from each student. It was very interesting to learn about their different courses and understand the challenges that they’re all facing now. We sincerely wish all the students much success in their future endeavours.” Miss Elaine Ho, Director of Ho & Fung Charitable Foundation Limited said.
